You can't avoid football fever as the Euro Championships kick off on June 10th. Before Switzerland & France's Group A battle on the field on June 19, help predict the outcome by blind tasting for fun and voting on their surprisingly good wines at this Wine, Food, Wine! event. Who knows, it could be more successful than Paul the Octopus!
If you've not been amazed by Swiss or French wines, we guarantee to pour some to shout for. We'll conceal the identities of surprisingly charming whites and quaffable big reds alike... your taste determines the outcome, always with specially-prepared food pairings that make the wines sing (or is it chant?)!
Our blind tasting of France vs. Swiss wines & food was a real nail biter, a full squad of 23 people on the field, full of ups and downs with reason to celebrate at the final whistle:
For whites, the French Chablis (always a light version of the Chardonnay grape) hit the back of the net with Tarragon Mustard Roast Chicken.
The evening's surprise star was a richly oak-aged Valais Syrah which played in perfect sequence with the Pomegranate-Cumin Barbecued Lamb. Who would've guessed it was Swiss?!
