Our Wine, Food, Wine! event featuring the wines of South Africa will temporarily erase those ubiquitous winter blues. The country's wines are improving all the time, and we'll serve a modern selection of the sunny, breezy Coastal Region's best white & red wine offerings and--as for local food pairings--ever heard of bobotie ??
We were gifted with summer-like weather yesterday evening and broke out the braai (that is, grill) for some traditional South African pairings. Attendee favorites included:
2010 Paul Cluver Chardonnay (Weinbroker, 21.50 chf) was a lovely balanced New World example with the smoked trout pâté
2008 Warwick Pinotage (Weinbroker 21.50 CHF) with the bobotie or spicy frikadelles. No surprise, this traditional South African red loved all of the local food!
