Rosé wines are surging in popularity while remaining a wine world paradox--adored in some areas, shunned in others. The misunderstanding? Well, there are great rosés but unfortunately lots of plonk too; to make matters worse, color and price are no indicators of quality.
What's a hot, thirsty, confused wine drinker to do? Join this Wine, Food, Wine! event and taste the whole spectrum of summer's coolest wines, from delicate blushing masterpieces to deeply extracted "construction workers'" rosés. We even include two infamous rosés produced by Hollywood's Brangelina pair. Part of the puzzle is how the wines' personalities develop with certain foods... the dishes we're serving that evening!
On the fittingly HOTTEST evening of summer 2016 we hosted a chill group of 24 for the full range of pink wine styles, from delicate to celebrity-style to construction workers' rosés:
The first round favorite split between Brangelina's infamous Provencal rosé vs. a neighboring version at half price. Both performed well with the Salmon Salad Niçoise.
Round 2 of heavier-hitting rosés gave the nod to the evening's deepest blushing candidate, a rosé of Malbec--Argentina's signature red grape--with the Roasted Lamb Sandwich.
