Spanish wine is red hot these days, featuring bright whites, macho reds, and stylish values abound. We'll contrast aged Rioja classics with modern styles, and even pair with that oh-so-Spanish invention from Jerez... dry Sherry! And tapas are just so perfect as further little food pairings.
Event wrap-up: Un éxito! We left no Spanish style untouched, from pungent, tangy bone-dry fino Sherry to wonderfully bright whites, through macho, traditional & modern reds, and finally ending with an inimitable Pedro Ximinez sherry as dessert. Crowd favorites from the evening:
2011 Albariño "Alma" from Les 3 Amis (Vinique, 25.00 chf) was fantastic all by itself, no wonder Albariño is currently Spain's best white grape!
2006 Rioja Reserva from Viña Bujunada (Casa del Vino, 17.50 chf) with the classic pairing of jamón iberico, the combination is always acorn-y & oaky delicious
