The evening's eight wine and food pairings include a sparkling Piedmont red made like Champagne (?!), minerally white Bordeaux with Citrus Prawn Dumplings and rich Chilean Chardonnay with Smoked Chicken Salad. Full yet? We're just warming up! Try South Africa's signature chocolatey-red Pinotage with Cajun Lamb, a surprising Swiss Syrah with Five-Spice Duck Breast and a massive French Mediterranean red with, what else?, earthy salty Black Olive Anchovy Tapenade. Oh, and Sauternes for dessert. You'll hum happily all the way home.
