Whether you already know a bit about French wine or tend to avoid it, we invite you to explore the more accessible side of the world's misunderstood wine giant. Good values (yes, they exist!) and quaffers alike will be displayed in bubbly, white and red styles, and it goes without saying that the correct cuisine alongside always helps.
Une soirée fantastique! What a fun group to tour the better- and lesser-known regions of France, all excellent values (believe it or not ;-). Among the crowd favorites:
The Chardonnay comparison. Classic unoaked Chablis from Billaud-Simon (Brancaia Zürich, 21.50 chf) vs. "regular" white Burgundy from Jadot (COOP, 14.90), paired with the infamous B-A-T sandwich (Bacon-Avocado-Tomato)
A hefty magnum bottle of 2007 Cahors Haut-Monplaisir (Viadukt Zürich, 21.00 chf) was Old World Malbec. Take that, Argentina. Rich seared duck breast held up well.
